During the installation of a UPS system we need to be careful about some certain factors which can hamper our entire operation and threat the reliability of the system. In this series of technical article we are going to explain 12 major problems that need to be paid attention to when installing a UPS system.  In this article we are going to explain first 6 of the major problems:

1. For the input and output wiring of the machine, the user's electrician should connect it in advance and pull it to the installation site to reserve a certain length (generally 1-1.5m long), so that the machine can be installed smoothly after arrival.

2. The selection of the diameter of the entry and exit

The selection of the input and output wire diameters of the machine cannot be lower than the national electricity safety standard. Special attention: for the three-in-one-out machine, the incoming wire diameter of the bypass live wire and the neutral wire must be three times that of the other two-phase live wires. ! Line type/line load maximum current reference:

(1) 2.5m㎡ type: 2.5x8A;

(2) 6m㎡ type: 6x7A;

(3) 10m㎡ type: 10x6A;

(4) 16m㎡ type: 16x5A;

(5) 25m㎡ type: 25x5A;

(6) 35m㎡ type: 35x4A;

(7) 55m㎡ type: 55x4A;

(8) 75m㎡ type: 75x3A.

3.The main points of the cable

All input and output copper core wires are best to use multi-core flexible wires, which is convenient for user wiring and machine wiring. The underground wiring of the input and output of the machine should be sheathed with metal materials (especially the wiring under the anti-static floor of the computer room) to prevent rat bites, accidental damage, and burns; the metal sheath can also shield electromagnetic *, is conducive to the underground routing of communication equipment signal lines.

4.Output prevention.

When the user is wiring, the output of the machine must be pulled separately! The set output-specific sockets/sockets must be strictly distinguished from the daily power sockets/sockets, and must be marked with eye-catching signs. The output sockets and sockets of the machine should not be juxtaposed or stacked with ordinary sockets! In order to prevent the machine from being accidentally plugged into the power equipment such as electric drills and vacuum cleaners for decoration, the power supply will be damaged. UPS is a precision power supply, which is more suitable for computers with weak inductive loads, and cannot be plugged into too many receipt printers! Strong inductive loads such as banknote presses, copiers, laser printers, and electric rolling shutters in the banking system cannot be plugged in! If it is to be used, the power matching ratio of UPS with such strong inductive loads or production equipment such as chip mounters and medical equipment such as CT machines and MIC magnetic resonance must be more than 4:1. Similarly, the power matching ratio of conventional EPS and power equipment is more than 5:1.

5. Safety ground

Check whether the grounding wire is in line with the national standard, which is beneficial to the safe operation of the machine and lightning protection. An input air switch or circuit breaker should be installed in the power distribution cabinet at the front end of the machine input (the neutral line should not be set separately), which is used for regular discharge detection of the battery of the UPS/EPS, but the model should not be too small, and should be slightly larger than the maximum input of the UPS current to avoid frequent tripping due to too small power. The front end of the UPS and EPS input shall not be connected to any leakage protection switch.

6. Balance electricity usage

The power distribution of the three-phase electricity in the user's distribution box should be as balanced as possible. If the distribution difference is too large, the neutral line (zero line) current will be too large and the zero-to-ground voltage will be too high, which will cause the machine to run unsafe or even cause a fire.
