Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are becoming increasingly popular in production lines, warehouse and distribution center for making processes safe and efficient. Battery-powered solutions are ideal for such applications. They are efficient, quiet, low maintenance and supply themselves with energy as required – provided that the right charging technology is being used.
Advantages of using Lithium batteries for the AGV industry:
High efficiency: Lithium batteries are more efficient. Lithium batteries efficiency is near 95-98% for motive applications while in Lead batteries such AGM or GEL; it is close to 80-85%.
Longer cycle time: For a given depth of discharge,
Lithium batteries ensure more recharging cycles so more life. So if you always discharge AGV battery to 50% of its capacity, SLA (GEL/AGM) had around 1500 recharging cycle’s life time while Lithium battery lasts for more than 6000 cycles.
Deepest Depth of Discharge (DOD): Lithium batteries can handle DOD of 80% maintaining excellent battery life (more than 3000 cycles), thus with the same 100 Ah battery you can use 80 Ah, so more time availability for of your AGV to perform missions rather than “losing” time for recharging.
Fast charging: In AGM/GEL batteries you needed around 8-10 hours to charge whereas
LiFePO4 battery has superior fast charging capability, 1hr charging to 90% can be provided.
Higher Energy Density: Same volume and more energy available. In other words, same power less weight. We can consider that energy density in Lithium batteries is three times higher.
Maintenance free: EverExceed Lithium batteries are completely maintenance free. It also has 70% lighter than equivalent lead acid batteries.
Safety: Advanced BMS ensures safety from higher and lower temperature, over voltage, under voltage, over-current, short circuit etc. and also monitors the cell balancing, State of Charge, cell level voltage etc. Also we use LFP technology which is much safer from fire and explosion whereas some of the other brands use NCM to minimize the cost by sacrificing safety.
